Frequently Asked Questions

A few of the questions I hear most often. Don't see yours? Send me a message — I'm always happy to help.

Why the Marquette Method, rather than tracking cervical mucus or temperature?

The Marquette Method uses the Clearblue Fertility Monitor to measure your actual hormones — estrogen and LH — through simple urine testing. That gives you a clear, forward-looking signal: your hormones rise before ovulation, so you have advance notice of your fertile window.

Temperature is helpful, but it only confirms ovulation after it has already happened, and it can be thrown off by restless sleep, illness, travel, or waking at irregular times. Cervical mucus is valuable too, but it depends on your own interpretation and can be especially hard to read postpartum or while breastfeeding. Many couples find the monitor brings a confidence that those signs alone didn't.

Why do I need an instructor? Can't I just read the monitor myself?

The monitor gives you data — but data isn't the same as a plan. The Marquette Method has specific protocols that differ depending on your reproductive stage, and applying the right one to your situation is exactly where an instructor matters.

I help you understand what your readings mean, apply the correct protocol for where you are, and adjust as your body changes. You're not just buying a device — you're gaining someone to walk it through with you, so you're never left guessing.

Is this only for Catholics?

This is a Catholic practice, and faith is central to how I teach. That said, I warmly welcome any couple who wants a natural, hormone-free, evidence-based way to understand their fertility. You'll always be met with respect for wherever you are in your journey.

Do I need to buy the monitor and test sticks?

Yes. The Clearblue Fertility Monitor and its test sticks are purchased separately, so they're not included in the package price. They're widely available, and I'll guide you on exactly what to buy and how to set it up before we begin — so there's no guesswork.

How are sessions held?

All sessions are virtual, so you and your spouse can join comfortably from home. Each instruction session runs about 60–90 minutes, and follow-ups are shorter — usually 15–30 minutes. We'll find a time that works for both of you.

How long does it take to learn?

Most couples feel confident after their first session and a cycle or two of charting with support. I include follow-ups and email support precisely so you're never figuring it out alone — I'm there as your cycle and your questions evolve.

Can the Marquette Method be used both to achieve and to postpone pregnancy?

Yes. The same method works beautifully for couples hoping to conceive and for couples with a serious reason to postpone. I'll teach you how to read your fertile window for whichever goal you have — and it adapts right alongside you as your intentions change.
